What Riot Should Do After Arcane Season 2

I love Arcane.

For those who don't know, or have not watched yet, Arcane is a 10-episode animated series set in the League of Legends universe. Taking place in the city of Piltover and Zaun, a technological city in a fantasy world divided in two, with Piltover housing the rich and well off citizens, while Zourn is filled with the poor, outcasts, and criminals, with drugs running rampant throughout. The show follows five League of Legends champions and the origins of how they become who they are in the game.

The series follows sisters Vi and Jinx from childhood, and without too many spoilers, Jinx throughout the series has to deal with her abandonment issues and her deteriorating mental health; especially when Vi (her sister) reappears in her life.

From Piltover the series follows Caitlin, a police officer rom a noble family, with her family disapproves of her job and her friendship with Jayce, she is on the hunt for Jinx., Teaming up with Vi acting as her guide

The last two are Jayce and Viktor. Jayce from a falling noble family, and Viktor from Zaun making his way out into Piltorver, become friends, encouraging and inventing hextech together for different reasons, with Jayce being the face of their inventions, and taking credit for most of the work, and Viktor preferring to stay in the background so he could work against time to save his life.

With season one ending on a cliffhanger, and season two set to be aired this year, I was wondering what Riot could do next as an animated series or a movie, mostly because Riot as a vast list of stories from different regions of the world of Runttera and with more than 140 champions, with their own lore spanning across time and the world, there's an endless possibility of what series Riot should make next.

Here are my suggestions:

  1. The Rune Wars

The Rune Wars were briefly mentioned in Arcane, when Heimerdinger attempted to stop Jayce and Viktor from trying to make magic. To briefly sum it up, The Rune Wars is set thousands of years before the events of Arcane, and involves the rising tensions between nations with the each one possessing runes with the power to reshape a continents (nukes with the power to destroy a continent). The series could follow a young Ryze, as he and his mentor attempt to broker peace with the warring nations before they destroy each other with the powers of runes.

2.“Shurima: Your Emperor Has Returned”

Although I hate Azir as a champion, due to the ‘shurima shuffle’, I have to admit that his lore would make a great series. Another set thousands of years before Arcane, Azir, the youngest and least favoured son of the emperor, meets a young slave boy called Xerath, and becomes friends with him. He swears brotherhood with him after a failed assassination of his father and the deaths of his older brothers. Following Azir's rise to the emperor of Shurima, with the help of Xerath by his side, and the promise of ending slavery, would make for compelling viewing. If Riot was to adapt Azir and Xerthe's lore into a series it would have it all: bromances, action, drama, broken promises, and betrayal.

3. Ashe Warmother

Ashe Warmother follows a young Ashe in the Freljords. Ashe and her mother, as well as warriors of her clan, go out on a raid to search for the throne of Avarosa in order to return their clan back to greatness. Throughout Ashe is at odds with her mother, but able to do anything as her mother is the Warmother of their clan With the death of her mother, and the warriors rom her clan, she continues on her own path to the truth of the throne. Aalone, betrayed by a friend, and at odds with her closest friends, Ashe starts a clan of her own becoming a Warmather.

There's a lot more lore I feel that would make a great series after Arcane, but I feel like these stand out as the better options. But the possibilities are vast, and here is a quick list of options:

  • The Ruined King

  • Sentinel of Light

  • The Ruination

  • Leona and Diana

  • Star Guardian

  • The Mage Rebellion

  • Lissandra The Ice Witch

  • The Watchers/ The Void

  • Pantheon The Unbreakable Spear

  • Zed

  • Miss Fortune
